Symptoms & Reasons to Visit
How We Diagnose
We perform a thorough glaucoma workup including intraocular pressure checking using Goldmann Applanation tonometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the optic nerve head fibers, and automated visual field (perimetry) testing.
Treatment Options
- Prescription ocular drops to reduce aqueous fluid production or increase outflow
- Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT): An outpatient laser treatment to open drainage channels
- Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS): Micro-implants to safely reduce eye pressure
- Traditional Trabeculectomy or valve implantation for advanced glaucoma control
What to Expect During Your Visit
A glaucoma examination is painless and involves simple diagnostic tests. You will sit at our advanced devices while light scans evaluate your nerve health. These tests are completely non-invasive and take about 15 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can vision lost from glaucoma be restored?
No, any vision loss caused by optic nerve damage from glaucoma is permanent and irreversible. All treatments are aimed at lowering eye pressure to preserve your remaining vision and prevent further damage.
Does high eye pressure always mean I have glaucoma?
Not necessarily. Some individuals have high eye pressure without nerve damage (Ocular Hypertension), while others develop glaucoma with normal eye pressure. An optic nerve scan is the only definitive way to confirm.
