Symptoms & Reasons to Visit
How We Diagnose
We screen the retina using absolute widefield fundus photography (Zeiss Clarus), high-definition optical coherence tomography (OCT) to identify micro-swelling, and OCT-Angiography to check retinal blood flow without dye injections.
Treatment Options
- Premium Intravitreal Anti-VEGF Injections to resolve macular edema and swelling
- Argon Laser Photocoagulation to seal leaking blood vessels and treat retinal tears
- Micro-incision Vitrectomy (MIVS) to safely remove vitreous gel, blood, and repair retinal detachments
What to Expect During Your Visit
Retinal checkups require pupil-dilating eye drops which take 20 to 30 minutes to work. This will cause temporary blurry vision and light sensitivity for 3 to 4 hours, so you must arrange for someone to drive you home after your visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does diabetes affect the eyes?
High blood sugar levels damage the tiny, fragile blood vessels in the retina over time, causing them to leak fluid or bleed into the eye (diabetic retinopathy). Regular retinal scans are vital to detect this before symptoms occur.
Are intravitreal injections painful?
No, patients are surprised to find the injection is virtually painless. We apply powerful local anesthetic drops and highly specialized sterile prep to ensure absolute comfort and safety during the 2-second procedure.
